From Pizza Buffets to Water Parks: LC’s Dream Businesses
Everybody’s got a dream business idea — from flower shops to fish fries, bookstores to bait shops. When we asked y’all what kind of business you’d open, the answers poured in, and let’s just say… Lawrence County would be one interesting place if even half of these became reality!
🌸 Shops with Heart
Many dreamers pictured cozy local spots: flower shops, dress shops, mercantiles, and bookstores. Imagine strolling downtown and picking between Ashley Oliver’s formal dress shop, Harlie Garton’s bookstore 100%, and Julia Craig Cole’s flower shop dream she’s been chasing since she was 19.
🍽️ Foodie Heaven
If y’all get your way, we’d never go hungry again.
Seafood on Friday nights (thanks, Duane Braidfoot).
Good ole’ soul food cooking (shoutout, Cinda Gillespie).
Pizza joints, Italian restaurants, coffee trailers, diners, and yes — a Chick-fil-A.
And Jordon Hill’s dream? A homemade pizza buffet with a killer salad bar.
🎡 Fun & Games
Lawrence County kids (and let’s be honest, adults too) would be spoiled for choice:
Mini golf, arcades, and indoor playgrounds.
Leah Hill dreaming of a family-friendly water park like Red Bay’s.
Tim Vanderploeg shooting for the stars with mini golf, go-carts, rock walls, trampoline park, zip lines, and more.
❤️ Serving Others
Some ideas came straight from the heart:
Helping veterans with disability claims — for free (David Pierce).
Daycares, private kindergartens, teacher supply stores, and event centers.
A Hold the Line Bar & Grille just for first responders, military, and vets (Amanda Jones Haddan).
😂 And Then There’s the Humor…
Not everyone was aiming for serious.
Brian Gamble pitched a Netflix documentary on how many land-clearing folks live in LC.
Scotty Ho said he’d open “the keep your nose in your business business.”
And Dustinn Kirby? He’d rather be a professional sleeper, odor judge, or food taster. (Where do we apply?)
Dreaming Big
These ideas show what folks in Lawrence County crave — places to gather, eat, laugh, and take care of one another. Some of these might stay Facebook comments, but others? They just might be the seed of the next big thing. 🌟
👉 So what about you? If money, time, or stress weren’t in the way… what kind of business would you open?
